I am an artist and woodworker deeply invested in exploring the oddities of daily life—those small, surreal details that make the world feel both grounded and dreamlike. I graduated with a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2023, and since then I have been committed to developing a body of work that defines my voice as a maker. My current work is driven by a personal and unusual connection: the cremated remains of a horse, gifted to me after the death of a friend’s mother-in-law. I went to great lengths to bring these ashes with me across the country. While I was often too anxious to leave the house alone, I found myself willing to explore my new city, through a strange sense of responsibility, if I brought the ashes along. Carrying her in my backpack became a ritual—an act of care and meditation. Over time, this transformed into a practice in empathy. I discovered that caring for this object, so far removed from myself, helped open my ability to care for the world around me. She became something more than a heavy bag of dust—she became a teacher.
